DEATH SENTENCE ON FIORI
CONSIDERATION BY CABINET DECISION THIS WEEK UNLIKELY (New Cealana Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 3. It is unlikely that the sentence of death imposed on William Fiori for murder will be considered by the Cabinet this week. This was learned authoritatively to-night. Fiori is in the Auckland prison under constant guard. It is understood that no appeal will be made against his conviction for murder. A petition sent to the Governor-General-in-Council recently will later be considered by the Executive Council, to which will also come all the files of the trial for examination, together with reports, any further appe3ls for clemency, and representations from relatives. The date for the execution will be set down by the Department of Justice, and will be confirmed by the Executive Council or otherwise.
