OFFICIAL FORECASTS "The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, March 3. i The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. bv the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation: a weak trough of low pressure is crossing the North Island, and a ridge of high pressure is over the South Island. Forecast: light to moderate winds, tending north-east near the coast; weather becoming fair and mild. Outlook: cloudy, with a few brief showers. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Fair to fine. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was Rne. with a light wind from the southwest. The maximum temperature wa? 68.3 degrees. At midnight the sky was overcast, and there was a light wind ffqih the south-west. The temperature was 53.3 degrees. The barometer, at 30.089 inches (1018.9 millibars), was falling unsteadily.
