The River City, the new 500-ton Dieselpowered coastal vessel built for the Wanganui Shipping Company, arrived at Wanganui this morning direct from Holland. The vessel is of the most modern design and is scheduled to trade between Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wanganui. She is fitted with an echo-sounding device and radio direction-finding apparatus. She has two hatches forward, with the mast and winches between them. The chart house, engine room, funnel, and crews’ quarters are all aft. . The River City brought prefabricated houses, fencing wire, and artificial fertiliser as a cargo. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS AUCKLAND, March 3.
