MURRAY BEATS THOMSON AT TAURANGA (New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA, March 3. Alec Murray, of Auckland, five times New Zealand open champion, beat the touring Australian and New Zealand open champion, Peter Thomson, 4 and 3, in an exhibition match at the Tauranga course to-day. Murray equalled the course record of 68. Thomson drove well, but his putting was erratic. Murray was more accurate throughout. RAWHITI CLUB The annual meeting of the Rawhiti Golf Club was held recently, when the following officers were elected:—patron, Mr J. H. Shaw; president, Mr W. Queree; viceS residents, Messrs C. Armstrong and H. IcDougall; club captain, Mr J. H. Sproston; honorary treasurer, Mr G. Croy; honorary secretary, Mr H. Whitford; honorary auditor, Mr R. Falloon; executive, Messrs J. B. McClymont, L. J. Wise, R Hepburn, I. Pockson, L. Russell, A. R. N Foubister. and M. Leake. Opening day was fixed for Saturday, March 8.
