CENTRAL DISTRICTS FAILS

STOLLMEYER RETIRES AT 129

(New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON N., February 21. Dismissing the home team for 114 runs in the first innings and 101 runs in the second, the West Indies beat Central Districts to-day by an innings and 56 rims. The West Indies’ score was made for the loss of six wickets, 129 of its 271 runs being scored by the captain, J. B. Stollmeyer, who retired. Trim and Ferguson were the most successful of the West Indies bowlers, Trim taking four wickets in the first innings for 24 runs, and Ferguson taking four wickets in the second innings lor 12 runs. Stollmeyer made his runs in 163 minutes. He hit 10 fours, a five, and two sixes.

In the morning the sky was overcast. Lat'er in the day the sun beat strongly through thin clouds, and the heat became oppressive, even to the visitors. Towards evening it became cool.
