KING’S EXAMPLE

CHURCHES SEE LESSON FOR NEW ZEALANDERS

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 21. An appeal to all New Zealanders to examine / afresh their own hearts and lives in the light of the example set by King George VI is made by the New Zealand Interchurch Council on Public Affairs. The council says that during the recent period of national mourning considerable emphasis was laid on the King’s spiritual life, and the high qualities of character and conduct he displayed were attributed to his faith in God. The council calls on all practising churchmen to be better churchmen and all non-churchgoers to consider seriously the importance of actively participating in the life of their churches.

It adds that it should be borne in mind that peace and happiness are fruits of the spirit and are won only in spiritual ways. .mJ he A Co^ncil says that his Poem /The Passmg of a Beloved .Monarch” u . et laureate sees a vision of the whole Commonwealth in its devotion to its chief resolved to make the kingdom grow so worthy “that millions yet unborn shall bless her reign.” .. If British peoples do but follow tneir beloved monarch’s example.” says the council, “this lofty goal can be achieved, and what better memorial could be raised to such a man?”
