DATE OF ROYAL TOUR

(Special Correspondent N.Z.p.A.) LONDON, February 13. It is understood, on reliable authority, that if the Dominions wish the Queen to visit them before she is crowned, she will be happy to do so, perhaps early next year. Her Majesty, it is stated, fully appreciates the keen disappointment aroused by the three postponements of the Royal tour. But if the Dominions prefer to wait until she has been crowned, then the date of her visit will be delayed. Though there has been talk of an “early” coronation, it is accepted in informed circles that plans for the ceremony in Westminster Abbey cannot be completed in much less than a year. It is unlikely that the coronation would be held during the autumn or winter.

It appears that three men—Mr Churchill, Mr Holland, and Mr Menzies—will take an important part in deciding the date of the coronation.

If the Dominions want to welcome a crowned Queen, the ceremony may be as early as the time required to coYnplete all the necessary plans wilf allow. If they wish to welcome an uncrowned Queen then Her Majesty may make the tour first and the coronation will come later.
