MINISTER VISITS GLENELG
( 5 Mrs Hilda Ross, Minister in charge ! of the Welfare of Women and Child- I ren. accompanied by her private sec- ' retary (Miss E. Mansfield) and by Mr 1 H. R. Lake, M.P. for Lyttelton on ihursdav Visited Glenelg Children's ’ Health Camp on Murray Aynsley Hill, > where she was received by the chair- < man of the camp management com- ] mittee (Mr George Burns), members 1 of the committee, and the matron and 1 assistant matron of Glenelg (Mrs E ! Morrison and Miss M. Judd). Mrs Ross was shown over the new i school building which had been erec- i ted since her last visit to the camp, i and was conducted through the < grounds, before inspecting the building ; where she met members of the staff. ; The 42 little girls now in camp sang i for her and in return she taught them j an action song that is popular with ; the children in the summer camps that j she conducted at Port Waikato. She said that she could not find a fault j with Glenelg and was greatly im- < pressed by the happy atmosphere that . prevailed there and by the good work i that was being done by the matron, - sub-matron and inside and outside 1 staffs. She also commented on the i snlendid supply of jam—724 pounds— , that had been made by the staff this t season from fruit grown at the camp. ( Mr Burns, after expressing appreciation of Mrs Ross's generositv in sparing time to visit Glenelg, 'wel- ‘ corned Mr Lake, who was paying his 1 first visit to the camp.
