MAN’S BODY FOUND AFTER SEARCH
An inquest will be opened to-day into the death of Robert Henry Barker, an engineer, of Paekakariki, whose body was found yesterday morning in thick scrub about a mile and a naif north of Kaiapoi. There was a shotgun wound in the chest and a shotgun was lying beside the body. When Mr Barker, who had borrowed a shotgun to go rabbit shooting, did not return to his sister’s home on Thursday evening a search was organised, the police being assisted by local residents. The search was stopped after dark on Thursday night and resumed yesterday, the body being found before midday.
