WINTER SPORTS CLUB’S CHAMPIONSHIPS

Although the events were held in heavy thawing snow, some good times were recorded at the Canterbury Winter Sports Club’s ski championships, which were held on the club's grounds at Mount Cheesman during the week-end. The courses were set by Mr W. Day, a club member, and Mr J. Sampson, of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club. The downhill was run from the summit of Mount Cockayne, dropping down a course of 1000 feet and in the slalom the descent was 700 feet through 24 sets of flags. A feature of the racing was the smooth skl-ing of Miss A. Johnson,, a member of the New Zealand team that toured Australia recently. In the open championship. The winner of the open was R. B. Johnson, who won both the downhill and slalom. Results:—
