FIRM DENIALS IN BRITAIN

(Rec-. 9 P.m.) LONDON, Sept 15. British financial circles to-aay described world-wide rumours that sterling would be devalued this weekend as “absolute rubbish." It was reported in Japan that the pound would be devalued from 280 cents to 240 cents. Singapore speculators this morning bought rubber on the strength of the devaluation rumours. The reports are believed to have started from the knowledge that the International Monetary Fund was meeting, and that It was the anniversary of the last sterling devaluation.
