OBITUARY

MR JOSEPH LIGGINS Mr Joseph Liggins, who died at his home at Burwood on Saturday after a long illness, was at one time among New Zealand’s largest poultry farmers, with a run of about 10,000 fowls. He sold his business four years ago. Mr Liggins, who was born at Burwood 63 years ago, was a Justice of the Peace, the Avon riding representative on tae Waimairi County Council for about 15 years, a vestryman of the Burwood Church of England, a member of the Masonic Lodge, president of the Burwood Tennis Club, and a member of the Shirley Bowling Club. He was also a keen gardener. Mr Liggins leaves a widow.
