METHODIST CLUB ENDS SEASON

After the Christchurch Methodist Harrier Club completed its final run on Saturday trophies won during the season were presented by the president (Mr H. Shelton) as follows; senior, K. CANTERBURY COLLEGE STEEPLECHASE

B J. P. Ryde,' New Zealand University and Canterbury cross-country champion, recorded fastest time in the Canterbury University College annual steeplechase, run from “Ham” on Saturday. Saturday s race ended the college cross-country club’s twenty-first season. Fifty-one competitors started in the women s section, run over a circuit of nine-tenths of a mile. Miss R. Preston gained fastest time, finishing second, in 6min 34sec, a good time, considering the nature of the course. The inter-hostels’ teams contest was won by Bishop Julius Hostel for the fourth year in succession. Trophies were awarded as follows—L. A Dougall Challenge Cup, G.
