CONCERN FELT IN U.S.
NEW YORK, September 10. American manufacturers are worried by the large quantities of cheap Japanese dinnerware and domestic glassware being sold in the United States. Japan has more than regained her prewar commanding position in these exports to the United States. A department store executive said h° was committed to heavy purchases of Japanese ware because it could be sold for 50 per cent, less than comparable American goods. The quality of the Japanese merchandise was as good as the American-made articles. American producers said tnat they considered the Japanese price advanta°e unfair tjecause Japanese labour costs were only 20 to 25 per cent, of those of American producers.
