PACIFIC WOMEN’S CONFERENCE

GROWING INTEREST REPORTED (New Z<oiaM Preet Association; AUCKLAND, September 3. Intereat in the women’s international conference of the Pan-Pacific Association to be held in Christchurch next January is rapidly increasing, both overseas and fn New Zealand. The conference will take place from January 11 to January 26. Under the leadership of Miss Amy Kane, of Wellington, the international officers have been busy for the last two years planning a programme suitable for so many different races of women, and also in choosing women with the necessary knowledge and ability to address large audiences. The chief aim of the Pan-Pacific conference is to establish international peace and unity in order to attain goodwill and friendship toward all peoples regardless of colour, race and creed. The association hopes to attain a world equable standard of living and a better development of tolerance and understanding among all countries around the Pacific and especially among the smaller nations. Feeling that good fellowship and friendship can be better obtained in informal rather than in formal surroundings, the organisers have arranged for the delegates to live in a hostel in Christchurch in the form of a camp, for the duration of the conference. In this way it is believed they will get to know each other well and so create mutual sympathies, interest and understanding.
