MR W. J. JORDAN
LAST DAY AS HIGH COMMISSIONER LONDON. August 31. Mr W. J. Jordan celebrated his last day as New Zealand High Commissioner in London by fulfilling a promise to the visiting New Zealand bowling team to entertain it at luncheon when it returned to London from its tour of the British Isles. Mr Jordan told the bowlers that he hoped to take up the game himself when he returned to New Zealand and had arranged for a set of bowls to be sent to him at hIS ship—“so as to avoid purchase tax.” He congratulated the team on its record and for the worthy way it had upheld the Dominion’s reputation for loyalty, good fellowship, and appreciation of the other man’s point of view. Mr Stanley Stone, of Wellington, who responded' to the High Commissioner’s welcome, said he hoped Mr Jordan would live lorn to enjoy the fruits of 15 years' friendship with scores of affectionate admirers on both sides of the world.
