CANTERBURY SUB-UNION’S TOURNAMENT
The representative Canterbury A basketball team had an overwhelming win’ against North Canterbury A, 32-4, when: the Canterbury Sub-unions held their annual tournament in Christchurch on Saturday. Results:— Ashburton A 20, North Canterbury A 19; Ellesmere 20, Banks Peninsula 8; Canterbury A 17, Ellesmere A 11; Hurunui B 12, Banks Peninsula A 11; North Canterbury A 20, Ashburton B 11; Canterbury B 19, Ashburton A 14; Ellesmere B 12, Ashburton B 8; Ashburton B 11, Canterbury D 10: Canterbury B 21, Lincoln A 3; Lincoln B 12, North Canterbury B 7; Canterbury C 18, Hurunui B 9; Canterbury C 12. North Canterbury D 5; Canterbury D 22, Lincoln B 6; Canterbury D 11, North Canterbury D 3; Canterbury E 11, Lincoln B 7; Ellesmere B 12, Canterbury E 11; Canterbury E 8, Lincoln A 7.
The third grade competition final resulted in Cathedral beating Embassy, 1815. Cathedral beat Ascot, 16-9, and Embassy beat Rangers 17-9 in the semi-finals.
