OIL DISPUTE IN PERSIA
Move To Change Government
(Rec. 7 p.m.) TEHERAN, Aug. 30. Reports of a Persian opposition drive to unseat the Mussadiq Government and seek a genuine settlement of the oil dispute gained force in Teheran to-day. It became known toat a "no confidence’’ resolution had been quietly circulated among the deputies of the Majlis in the last 48 hours. It has already secured 20 signatures. The leading person behind this move is said to be a former Prime Minister (Mr Seyyid Taba Tabai), who is known as Russia’s main enemy in Persia. Mr Tabai's plan is believed to be to get 60 or 70 signatures from the 130 deputies. He would then either force Dr. Mpssadiq to seek a vote oi confidence in Parliament or petition the Shah for his dismissal, if the Prime Minister continued to flout the House with his weekly pleas of illness. Mr Tabai, who played the foremost part in opposing the Tudeh (Communist) Party and the Russian threat to Azerbaijan six years ago, is expected to announce the resuscitation of his Gradeh Meili (National Will) Party early next week. The belief is growing in Teheran that nothing but a change of Government in Persia can lead to a satisfactory settlement of the oil dispute.
