POSSIBLE EXTENSION TO N.Z.

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. August 31. The Indian Government Trade Commissioner (Mr B. K. Sanyal) has been advised bv his Government that, provided 2500 tons Of cargo is available for each ship leaving India, the Indian Shipping Corporation will extend its service to New Zealand. “The corporation, in which the Government has a controlling interest, has been operating a regular service between India and Australia since 1949.’’ said Mr Sanval to-day. “The corporation was disinclined to extend that service to New Zealand ports because of insufficient cargojnd the slow turnround of vessels. "Trade between India and New Zealand having increased considerably durinc the last six months. I now believe that there is amp'e justification for the extension of the service to New Zealand from Australia.”
