Outlook: fair to fine. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds, tending westerly at night; weather unsettled, with periods of ta n or showers; cool temperatures. Outlook: occasional showers. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER After a frost of 4.8 degrees, the day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a maximum temperature of 50 degrees. At midnight the sky was clear and a light east-north-east wind was blowing. The temperature was 40.0 degrees, and the barometer, at 29.838
