MAORI PROBLEMS

WORK OF METHODIST CHURCH (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, August 30. “A lot of folk are labouring under the impression that there is no colour bar in New Zealand, but they are mistaken,” said the Rev. L. V. Willing (Wellington), presenting the report oi the Maori mission to the Wellington District Methodist Synod. “We would once more appeal to our members to use their influence in every way possible to create the best atmosphere for the solution of problems confronting Maori and pakeha in New Zealand?" he added. “There is a great need for patience and toleration on both sides.

"Many of our Maori people are making worthy and successful efforts to meet the challenges of these difficult days, and the failure of some of them should not be used to discourage the others. There is a grave responsibility resting on all right-thinking Christian people to offer moral and practical support to every movement seeking the advancement of our great Maori race. In this task our mission fills no mean place, and we commend it again to the whole church.”
