WEATHER REPORT
OFFICIAL FORECASTS "The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. August 29. The weather forecast fpr Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation: a trough of low pressure over northern New Zealand is moving away to the north-east; a ridge of high pressure covers the Ta.sman Sea and most of the country. Forecast: light to moderate south-west ■winds; a few showers about and north of Banks Peninsula, but weather elsewhere mainly fair to fine; cool to moderate afternoon temperatures. Outlook: rain in the alps during the day. southerly showers elsewhere late in the afternoon. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate westerly winds; occasional showers, becoming less frequent, and fair periods lengthening; cool to moderate temperatures. Outlook: probably unsettled, with rain or showers for a time.
