The only other quotable line was a pen of twoyear Aberdeen-Angus heifers at £l5 18s 6d. DAIRY CATTLE The entry of dairy cattle totalled 90 head, and consisted principally of poorclass cattle, most of them in low condition. There was a big attendance at the beginning of the sale, but toward the end very few watched. The demand was slack except for the few good cattle, and values were down by up to £2 10s a head. further by 4s to 6s a head. Six sows in pig were entered and made from £lO to £23. Values were : Small weaners, 30s to 40s, Best weaners, 45s to 555. Slips. 58s to 645. Small stores, 65s to 70s. Medium stores, 68s to 755. Large stores, 80s to 945. BUBNSIDE (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, August 29. Prices fluctuated in most *of the fat stock sections at the Burnside sale to-day. The excellent quality of the ox beef offered last week was not maintained, the greater bulk of the offering being medium and ordinary sorts. For the better quality sorts, prices were a fraction easier. The sheep entry of approximately 1900 did not compare for quality with that of last week, there being a number of pens of only average sorts. A few pens of hoggets were offered, and, for the better class, good values were again secured. There was keen Interest in the store cattle section. Prices were firm on last week, which was an exceptionally good market. Runners and vealars, of which there was a large offering, met with a ready sale, although the prices barely reached those of last week. The offering of baconers and porkers was below requirements, and prices for both classes were well up to last week, and in some cases slightly better.
