STOCK SALES
ASHBURTON There was a fair yarding of shorn ewes and wethers at the Ashburton stock sale yesterday. The sale showed an Improved tone on recent sales, with more spirited bidding, although the quality was not as sound as in previous weeks. The prices for fat ewes were about the same as last week, with wethers up by about ss. The demand for store sheep was better than during recent sales. Shorn wethers made from 52s Id to 59s Id, medium to 89s Id. and heavy from 96s Id to 102 s id, sheep on account of R. H. Walls (Lagmhor) reaching the top price. Heavy ewes sold from 60s to 71s Id, the top price being paid for a pen of seven on account of C. Frampton (Wakanui).
In the store sheep section, a line of 129 four-year and five-year breeding ewes made 78s 6d, and a line of 58 shorn wethers sold at 40s. Two-tooth ewes sold at 102 s 6d, and a line of ewes and lambs made 40s.
