AWARD OF DUTCH WAR MEDAL
NEW ZEALANDER TO BE INVESTED
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 28. A Lower Hutt fireman, Mr Peter M. Adds, will be invested with the Dutch War Services Cross at the Netherlands Legation in Wellington to-morrow morning. Mr Adds said to-night that he did not know why the award was being made.
Mr Adds served in the Dutch merchant marine from 1943 till the end of the war. He was in more than six ships, mostly oil tankers, and was in the first oil tanker to enter Le Havre after the Germans had been driven out.
Several other New Zealanders have received this award, which is equivalent to the British Distinguished Service Cross. The investiture to-morrow will be made by the Netherlands Minister to New Zealand (Mr J. B. D. Pennink).
