“SHIP SENT AWAY WITHOUT RADAR” ALLEGATION BY MR MCLAGAN Reports in the newspapers of the preliminary inquiry into the stranding of the Wahine did not give an inkling of art important matter, Mr A McLagan. Labour candidate for Riccarton. said at an election meeting in Somerflqld last evening. “The facts are that the Wahine was sent away with New Zealand troops aboard and into dangerous waters without radar equipment.’’ Mr McLain said. “That Information has been reuorted to The Press' and 'StarSun/, but they have refused to publish it. They have been offered the information at advertising rates, but thev have refused It, “Had it been a Labour Government that sent that ship away without radar it would have been splashed with big headings in every newspaper in this country.
.. I think they will publish it before the election Is quite over. At least a great many people will be told about it, the election is over.” said Mr McLagan.
