Mr M. Carosi, the first Italian Minister to New Zealand, arrived at Auckland in the Wanganella from Sydney yesterday with his wife and family. His headquarters will be in Wellington.—(P.A.)
A motion congratulating the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. A. K. Warren) on being elected BiShop of Christchurch was passed at a meeting of the Riccarton Borough Council last evening. Lieutenant-Colonel G. P. Cade, Director of Artillery, Army Headquarters, Wellington, will arrive in Christchurch to-day. He will attend the exercises of the 11th Coast Regiment, Which is having its annual camp at Godley Head.
Mr W. H. Cunningham, of the New Zealand Law Society, returned to Wellington by air yesterday morning from Sydney. He attended in Australia the Australian Jubilee Law Convention.—(P. A.) Chairmen of committees of the Canterbury University College Council were announced yesterday as follows: staff, Mr Duncan Mackay; estates and buildings, Mr E. B. E. Taylor; policy and development, Mr W. J. Cartwright; engineering, Mr H. F. Baird; finance, Mr D. W. Bain.
Mr A. R. Barnsdale has been appointed lecturer in accounting HI at Canterbury University College for 1951 and 1952 in succession to Mr C. C. Holland.
