PROTECTION OF WOMEN
MONTHLY MEETING OF SOCIETY
The committee of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children xnet in the society’s rooms for its monthly meeting. The secretary (Mrs L. I. Cattell) read a letter on the present arrangements and situation of the children’s creche in the rest rooms in Cathedral square. It was decided to make an inspection of the creche.
It was reported that a Government grant of £75 from art union profits had been received during the month.
During the month 169 interviews were made at the office. 110 visits paid to homes, 204 phone calls and messages were received, and 17 new cases were attended to. Three unmarried mothers had received help from the Sevicke-Jones Trust, nnd several deserted wives and children had received help from the fund during the month.
Because of the housing problem the society had received numerous requests to find board for children, it was reported. The advisory officer would welcome information from homes willing to undertake temporary or permanent boarding of children from the age of six years and upwards.
Miss E. Cardele presided at the meeting.
