MARIST CLUB APPLIES FOR AFFILIATION

An application by the newly-formed Manst Cricket Club for affiliation with the Canterbury Cricket Association was granted, subject to the club’s constitution being approved, at a meeting of the management committee of the association last evening. cathedral and St. Bede’s College Old Boys' Clubs had decided to disband said the interim secretary of the club (Mr R Boland) in a letter. The new club intended to apply to the City Council for the wickets held last season by the St. Bedes Club at Elmwood Park and ‘he. Cathedral Club at Hagley Park. The latter Wickets were now being reconditioned.

A draft of the constitution of the club was enclosed, saying that those eligible for membership of the club would be “ail Catholic men" and “any other persons as may be approved for membership by the clubs management committee." Mr E. M Hay suggested the granting of the application should be subject to the provision of suitable grounds. I don’t think that point has anything to do with affiliations, said Mr R. L. B. Poore. "We can still discipline the club if their wickets are not up to standard.” "I think it is a good thing the two clubs are to affiliate.” said the chairman (Mr C. G. Crawford). "The new club should be stronger and more in a position to keep its wickets in order than before." It was decided that the club should be auvised that all clubs were expected to have their wickets kept up to standard.
