It should be noted that these refunds will apply to all Traders carrying on the business of selling Tea, Butter, and Flour, OTHER than as an ingredient in a beveiage, food, or part of a meal. U RETAILERS: (1) All claims for refunds are to be made on retailers’ invoices if available, or on plain paper, and are to be sent to the Acting-Director, Marketing Department, P.O. Box 1500, Wellington. (2) Ail claims are to cany a certificate worded as follows: TEA; "I hereby certify that the quantity of tea held in my store as at midnight, 2nd September, 1951, waslb, and therefore claim a subsidy of £ in respect of duty already paid on such tea.” "I further undertake to reduce the retail price of tea by 3d per lb as from 3rd September. 1951.” BUTTER AND FLOUR: "I hereby certify that the quantity of (butter) (flour) held in my store as at midnight. 2nd SeptemMer, 1951, was lb,’ and therefore claim a subsidy of £ in respect of such (butter) (flour).” (3) A separate ceitificate is required In respect of each commodity. (4) Each claim is to be witnessed by a Justice of the Peace or a Solicitor, or a member of the Police Force, or a member of the N.Z. Society of Accountants, or a Minister of Religion, or Postmaster. (5) Retailers receiving tea, butter, or flour on or after the 3rd September, 1961, should ascertain whether it has been In transit at midnight on the 2nd September, 1951. Such tea, butter, or flour SHOULD NOT be declared as part of their stocks or a refund claimed unless it has been charged at the price ruling prior to 2nd September, 1951. TEA PACKERS AND WHOLESALERS. The procedure is the same as for retailers, except that Tea Packers and Wholesalers of Tea are required to append the following certificate:— “I hereby certify that the total quantity of tea held in my store* (excluding tea in bond) as at midnight, 2nd September, 1951 was lb. and therefore claim a subsidy in respect of customs duty already paid and amounting to £ in respect of such tea.” GENERAL.

(1) All claims for refunds will be acknowledged immediately and cheques will be posted as soon as possible after the claims are received. (2) Claims MUST be received by the Department within fourteen (14) days of the 3rd September, 1951, i.e., not later than 17th SEPTEMBER, 1951. (3) Each Trader must ensure that this claim carries his full name and address so that the acknowledgement and cheque can be sent promptly.
