PHILIPPINES TO ATTEND

JUGOSLAVIA DECLINES INVITATION (Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 25. After a meeting with high State Department officials, the Philippines Foreign Minister (General Carlos Romulo) said that his Government would send a delegation to the Japanese peace conference, but he refused to say whether the Philippines would sign the treaty. Indonesia has accepted an invitation to attend the conference. A Belgrade message says that Jugoslavia has decided not to take part in the San Francisco conference to which it had been invited by the United States. The Jugoslav news agency. Tanjug, announced to-night that Jugoslavia’s rejection of the invitation did not indicate that Jugoslavia was not interested in the question of a peace treaty between the last war Allies and Japan.
