TOURS MADE BY ROYALTY

INCREASE PROBABLE LONDON, August 24. The tour of Canada which Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh will make in October is just one of many Commonwealth visits likely to be paid by the Royal Family in earning years, it was learned today. A well-informed source said that because of speedy modern travel facilities, the days of “once-in-a-life-time” Royal tours were over. It was probable that before long members of the Royal Family would think no more of attending some function in a Commonwealth country than they do now of going to Wales or Scotland. The source said that in the past, such visits were planned on the assumption that they would not be repeated, and that therefore they required exhausting itineraries taking in every possible centre in the country concerned. Now it was feasible to make return trips during which any districts originally missed could be visited.
