WIFE OF MISSING DIPLOMAT

LONDON, August 25 The Foreign Office is inquiring into reportsthat Mrs Melinda Maclean, toe American-born wife of the missing British diplomat, Mr Donald Maclran, has disappeared from the rrencn Riviera, where she went last week. Press reports from the south otf France say that Mrs Maclean has n been seen tor more than 48 hours, since she left the villa nearSt. Tropez where she was staying with her three children, her mother and her sister. A snokesman said there was so far no reason to believe that Mrs Maclean was in contact with her husband Mrs Maclean flew to Nice last.weekIt was stated that she was taking a much-needed holiday. The Foreign Office had been informed, and had ra Mr DSn^d j M&n left London with another Foreign Office official, Mr Guy Burgess, on January 25. Their destination has never been discovered.
