STEEPLECHASE WON BY PAUL

Paul scored his first success as a steeplechaser when he won the Taranaki Hunt Cup Steeplechase, the principal event on the final day of the combined meeting of the Taranaki-Egmont-Wanganul Hunt Clubs at New Plymouth on Saturday. The track provided excellent going for winter raeing. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance- The totalisator handled £55.128 10s, compared with £52,194 10s for the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £103,619, compared wtih £53.438 last year, an -increase of £10.190. It was the first time the club had. handled more than £lOO,OOO.
