Wellington, and dealing with the 1 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation: an anti-cyclone is over New Zealand and a depression is approaching slowly from the north Tasman Sea. Forecast: moderate winds from an easterly quarter; weather becoming cloudy; temperatures cool to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate east to north-east winds; weather cloudy, with scattered rain developing in the north; temperatures cool to moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, with a maximum temperature ot 50.7 degrees. At midnight, the sky was clear, and there was a light wind from the north-east. The temperature was 39 degrees. The barometer, at 30.213 inches (1023.1 millibars), was steady. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 a.m.: ,02in.
