BRITISH MOTOR EXPORTS
BIGGER SHIPMENTS TO AUSTRALIA
(Rec. 9 p.m.) ADELAIDE, Aug. 5. The general manager of the Nuffield Corporation in Australia (Mr R. L. Smith) says shipments of British motor-vehicles to Australia will increase by 25 per cent, from about August 15. More shipping has become available, and 93 vessels will load British cargoes for Australia during the quarter ending on September 30. In the corresponding quarter last year 87 ships brought cargo from Britain. The Australian representative of the London Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (Mr J. S. Strong) says 72 per cent, of all new cars put into service in Australia are British, and only about 8 per cent, are of North American origin, «
