REPRESENTATIVE LEAGUE FOOTBALL
- T Sl t r>— At a recent meeting of the North Auckland Rugby Union the following concern, at the spread of League, was expressed, taken from newspaper reports: “The Whangarei Union based its protest on the assumption that a special grant of £2OO had been lifted from the New Zealand Union s propaganda fund—a fund used for the purpose of offsetting the Rugbv League game.” Mr Baker (Whangan el 2* said i “ I , n plain l an g ua ge we are fighting to keep Rugby League out. This season the estimated cost would be £230 to have schoolboys play Rugby instead of League. Two years ago the the then president of the New Zear j Mr D - Max, promised a fund to fight League. This is not just for schoo! football; it is £9OO odd to fight League.’ They hold the Ranfurly Shield so you can’t blame “Union” for being anxious, too.—Yours, etc rnua a t. f. mckenzie. Cobden.
