THANKSGIVING FUND TOTALS £800,000
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 4. The Lord Mayor's National Thanksgiving fund has now closed with a total of more than £BOO,OOO. The fund was opened on March 31, 1950, with the object of establishing accommodation in Britain for Commonwealth and United States students as a gesture of thanks for food parcels received during and after the Second World War.
