TEA DANCE
JUNIOR NAVY LEAGUE
Each year, in Grand National week, the Junior Navy League holds a tea dance, at which members have an opportunity of entertaining their friends. The dance is regarded more as a social gathering than as a money-making event, but it is always so successful that it shows a profit. This year’s dance was held on Saturday in the Mayfair Lounge and was well supported and very enjoyable. The proceeds will be given to the Sea Cadets’ fund.
Miss Natalie Vale, the president, who welcomed the visitors, wore a frock of red and green pin-point check tie silk and a small hat to match with outstanding feather mount at the side. Specially-invited guests were Mr R. L. Reid (Dominion president of the Navy League), Mr and Mrs A. S. Taylor, Mr H. Wyatt and Mrs Wyatt, who is president of the women’s auxiliary of the league. Lieutenant F. J. Glanville (commanding officer of the Sea Cadet Corps), and officers of ships in Lyttelton.
Members of the organising committee were Misses Vale, Marion Harris, Christine Harris, Jean Sanderson, Noeline Nutt, Enid Arlow, Gywtha Cooper, Eileen Kay, Lorna Bunt, Paula Rice. Beverley Hardie, Jean Johnston, and Muriel Hunter. Lieutenant Maurice Newman, and Messrs Frank Collins, lan Gray and Alan Gray.
