OBITUARY
MR J. ADAMSON (From Our Own Reporter)
GREYMOUTH, August 5. The death has occurred at Greymouth of Mr John Adamson, of Cowper street, at the age of 84. Mr Adamson was born in South Canterbury and lived for a time in Central Otago and Southland. He was a guide at Mount Cook for several years and was manager of The Hermitage for three years. He came to Greymouth 15 years ago and was employed as an engine driver at the Grey Hospital until his retirement. He took a keen interest in alpine clubs and was well-known throughout the South Island as an alpine guide. He was a past president of the Druids Lodge at Alexandra.
He is survived by his widow, two sons, and two daughters, one of whom is Sister Mary Aidan, at the Mater Misercordiae Hospital, Dunedin.
