OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, Aug. 3. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation: an anti-cyrlone over New Zealand is moving to the north and east. A vigorous low-piessure trough in the western Tasman is moving eastwards. Forecast: moderate northerly winds developing. Coastal cloud and light drizzle patches about and north cf Banks Peninsula at first, but weather soon becoming generally fine. Moderate day temperatures. Outlook for Sunday: rain in the Alps, heavy at times. Mainly fair on the Plains. A CT The fol'owmg is the forecast for the west Coast of the South Island:— Northerly winds. Increasing and becoming fresh to strong in the south later in the day. Cloud increasing, and scattered showers developing, particularly in the south. Moderate temperatures. Outlook for Sundayrain, heavy at times.
