LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR RICCARTON
MR A. MCLAGAN CHOSEN
Mr A. McLagan, the sitting member, was elected unopposed as the Labour Party candidate for the Riccarton seat at a meeting held last evening in the Papanui Town Hall, according to a statement supplied after the meeting. So me 200 members of the Riccarton and Selwyn electorates met to select candidates for these two seats. Mr J. Colligan, chairman of the RtacartonSelwyn Labour Representation Commtttee, presided. The following nominations were received from the Labour Party, including the junior branches and affiliated unions, in the Selwyn electorate;—Messrs J. G, Barclay, G. R. Brown. Winter Cole and A. J. Smith. Two prospective Candidates at the meeting who withdrew their nominations were Mr J. Colligan and Mr J. A. Gregor, of the Storemen and Packers’ Union. The candidate for Selwyn will be selected at an' early date by the special electoral committee.
