The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Moderate winds from a northerly quarter; weather evereast and mild; drizzle and rain at times. Outlook: improving. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch was overcast, With showers in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 54.7 degrees. Rain was falling in Christchurch at midnight and there was a very light south-south-east wind. The temperature was 44.3 degrees, and the barometer, at 29.923 inches (1*11.3 millibars), was falling.
