LONG SERVICE OF PRIMATE
BISHOP SIMKIN’S APPRECIATION REFERENCE TO COMING RETIREMENT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 16. Reference to the long service Archbishop West-Watson has given the Church of England was made by the Bishop of Auckland (the Rt. Rev. W. J. Simkin) in his charge to the second session of the thirty-third Auckland Anglican Synod in St. Mary’s Cathedral this evening. “His Grace has been for some time the senior bishop in the Anglican communion,” said Bishop Simkin. “By his profound scholarship the Cnurcn in this province has greatly benefited. By his meticulous care and indefatigable labour in the exercise pf the duties of the office of Primate, Archbishop. and Metropolitan, the provincial organisation has been brought to a high level. “The Archbishop will be remembered with affection by many people outside his own diocese for his great kindness of heart and thoughtfulness for others, continued Bishop Simkin. “I ML 1 ! can trulv be said that the Archbishop never forgot any act of kindness rendered to him, and always sought to repay such acts by the remembrance of those who performed them.
