CALL TO KNOX CHURCH
REV. M. W. WILSON, OP TIMARU The congregation of Knox Presbyterian Church, Bealey avenue, yesterday decided unanimously to extend a call to the Rev. Malcolm W. Wilson, of Chalmers Church, Timaru. The ministry of Knox Church has become vacant through the resignation of the Rev. Donald F. MacKenzie, minister of the church for four and a half years, who has taken up a position in Wellington as a child welfare officer. Mr Wilson, who was born at Queenstown, is a son of the Rev. James Wilson, a well-known minister of the Presbyterian Church. After working in the Health Department, Mr Wilson began studies for the ministry. He
graduated Master of Arts with honours at Otago University, and completed his theological education at Knox College, Dunedin, and Westminster College, Cambridge. His first parish was Huntly, from which he returned to England to become minister of the Presbyterian Church of York. From York he was called 13 years ago to Chalmers Church, Timatu,
In Timaru Mr Wilson has played an important part in the life of the Church ana of the city. He was the first chairman of the South Canterbury branch of the National Council of Churches, served a term as president of the Timaru Rotary Club, and is at present chairman of the Timaru Marriage Guidance Council, and vicepresident of Heritage in South Canterbury.
Mrs Wilson is a graduate of Cambridge University and was a Cambridge hockey blue. Mr and Mrs Wilson have a family of three girls and three boys.
