LAUNCH FOUNDERS ON REEF
MOORINGS BROKEN AT KAIKOURA The fishing launch Jean broke its mooring near the new wharf at Kaikoura in a strong north-easterly wind and drifted about a quarter of a mile before foundering an ■ FSef near Camel Rock about 75 yards off-shore at the south-eastern end of Ingles Bay about 2.45 p.m. yesterday. The hull of the launch was ripped open on the port side aft and badly buffeted. Tbe salvage of the engine was begun at low tide, tattle hope wa» held of saving the launch itself last evening by the owners, Messrs M. and R. Reyner, who will be heavy losers, as the launch loss has been estimated at £2090.
