DOMINION R.S.A. CONFERENCE
ABOUT 250 DELEGATES TO ATTEND Tlie first Dominion conference of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association to be held in Christchurch for nearly 30 years will open this morning, when the Governor-General (Lord Freyberg) will be present, and about 250 delegates will be welcomed by the Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.). Conferences are usually held in Wellington. but the 1951 conference is being held in Christchurch because of Canterbury’s centennial. At 12.30 p.m. delegates and local members of the association will hold a parade from the Wentworth, where the conference is to be held. They will march across the Bridge of Remembrance, along Cambridge terrace and Worcester street to Cathedral square, where a wreath will be placed on the War Memorial. Remits to be considered by the conference number 171. which is fewer than usual. The conference will continue for the rest of the week. The first Dominion conference of the women's section will also be held on one day, and former servicewomen members of the association will hold a conference. Both the women’s conferences will be held in the Jellicoe Hall.
