JUNIOR NAVY LEAGUE
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Junior Navy League Was held last evening, when the president (Miss Natalie Vale), after reviewing the activities of a full and interesting year, reminded members of the functions of the league to keep before the public the fact that the Empire’s security in war and prosperity and in peace depended on maintaining sea power. She said that the branch supported the Sea Cadet Corps, which gave valuable training to boys, and the branch also fostered closer personal contact and understanding among members of the Commonwealth and Empire. Miss Vale said that the branch’s major social effort during the last year had been the holding of the Navy League ball, which had been honoured by the presence of the Governor-Gen-eral (Sir Bernard Freyberg) and Lady Freyberg. and its major financial won? had been to raise money to help the Sea Cadet Corps. Officers were elected as follows; president. Miss Vale: vice-presidents, Misses Enid Arion r.nd Npeline Nut.; honorary secretaries. Misses Marion and Christine Harris; honorary treasurer, Miss Jean Sanderson; committee. Misses Eileen Kay. Paula Rice. Muriel Hunter. Gwitha Coopen Beverley Franklin, Ixirna Bunt, Beverley Hardie. Jean Johnstone.
