R.A.F. LECTURE TEAM

PARTY TO VISIT N.Z. THIS MONTH

FOUR DAYS AT WIGRAM (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, April 30.

A lecture team from the Royal Air Force Central Navigation and Control School, Shawbury, England, will spend four days at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, Wigram, next month in a tour of the Dominion. The party will arrive in New Zealand from Australia on May 5, landing at Whenuapai. The purpose of the visit is to exchange information on air navigation and air traffic control developments and techniques. The party is travelling in a Hand-ley-Page Hastings aircraft, captained by a New Zealander, Flight Lieutenant J. D. Woods, of North Otago. The proposed itinerary provides for visits to Royal New Zealand Air Force Headquarters, Wellington, and the principal Air Force stations in New Zealand. On May 7, after addressing No. 41 (Transport) Squadron at Whenuapai, the party will fly to Ohakea, and go next day by car to Wellington. A reception will be held at the home of the Chief of the Air Staff (Air Vice-Marshal D. V. Carnegie) that evening, and the following day discussions will be held at Royal New Zealand Air Force Headquarters, after which the party will leave for Ohakea. On May 10 the party will fly to Wigram. Wigram is the station most concerned with the visit, because the Air Navigation School of the Royal New Zealand Air Force is located there. The party will remain at Wigram until May 14, when it will depart for Laverton. Australia.

Arrangements are being made on stations not included in the itinerary for interested officers to attend lectures which will touch on such subjects as the latest navigation techniques for transport operations, maritime reconnaissance and single-seat aircraft, and developments in astronavigation and radar.
