PRISONERS SHOT BY CHINESE
BRITISH OFFICER’S REPORT . j . TOKYO, April 29. An escaped British officer said in Korea to-day that the Communists shot se XF al Bnti sh prisoners last week. The murdered prisoners were among a group of British and Belgian soldiers captured in the heavy fighting after the start of the big Communist offensive. The officer said: “The Reds lined us UP and shot an officer. First one of the Chinese went up to a soldier who had his arms in the air. cocked his revolver and pulled the trigger. The revolver misfired, so the Chinese cocked it again and shot the man dead. Chinese troops seemed to go berserk after our aeroplanes strafed them, and dropped napalm bombs on them.”
Another British soldier said that the Chinese troops fired on a British ambulance which was loading and treating wounded men. Other British troops who fought their way out said that the Chinese treated them well before they escaped. One said: “Thev even gave us cigarettes."
